R.R. Moton's Dance Program offers intensive
instruction in ballet, modern and jazz techniques. The dancers are
also exposed to various guest artists who may teach Afro-Caribbean,
Afro-Cuban, and Hip-Hop techniques. All movement learned in class
is the foundation for performance choreography.
In addition to technique and choreography,
students will have class instruction and home learning in anatomy,
dance history, dance notation and production. To completely understand
the elements of dance, all dancers will have the opportunity:
- To perform at several venues across Dade
County.
- Attend professional dance shows.
- Participate in competitions, festivals and
workshops.
Dance is a fun discipline that teaches
the body and mind to work together as one. Dance is for all students,
and boys are strongly encouraged to apply! For the audition, students
need to come dressed in a leotard and tights or a close fitting
T-shirt and shorts. Hair must be pulled away from the face. During
the audition, the instructor will look for strength, flexibility,
and the ability to listen and follow directions. Previous formal
instruction is not required to audition.
This program is offered instead of P.E.
