The talented Theater Arts Program offers a curriculum that
thoroughly trains 3rd, 4th and 5th grade level students in
fundamentals of Theater Arts, including Pantomime, Diction,
Characterization, Stage and Costume Design, Playwriting and Play
Analysis. Students are exposed to these concepts through Theater
Games and Role Play. All Drama students have an opportunity to
perform in group exercises, monologues and scenes, culminating in a
major production when they become fifth graders. Each student is
encouraged to express themselves through Prose, Poetry, Stage
Movement and Oral Interpretation. In addition to classroom
experiences, students attend drama events, major theatrical
production and have the opportunity of participating in the Youth
Fair. R.R. Moton is fully equipped with a state of the art theater
which includes dressing rooms, bathrooms, storage rooms and a studio
theater classroom.
The theater also houses The Skevy Ralis Art Gallery in the lobby.
To audition students must prepare a memorized 2 minute monologue and
participate in some theater improvisations. |
